The Barony of Lyondemere invites you to escape the summer heat and join Gareth and Alatiel, Baron and Baroness, in the theme of the 14th century to celebrate our 47th anniversary! Bring your best 14th century garb from your favorite culture and revel in the unique combat styles, while enjoying the cooler beach weather of Lyondemere as we choose our champions in Arts & Sciences, Bardic, Heavy Armored Combat, Rapier, and for the first time Cut & Thrust combat!
Heavy armored combat will be our traditional Dante’s Inferno format, where each of the 9 rounds will be based on a different circle of the Inferno, which was written in the 14th century.
Our Rapier and Cut & Thrust tournaments will use a points system this year, where a killing blow is worth 3 points and all other blows are worth 1 each. Passes will be fought to the first touch, and wounds will not be enacted, so each bout will be fought as a series of passes rather than continuous fighting. The first fighter to 5 total points will be the winner of the bout. In light of the 14th century theme, their Excellencies would particularly like to see longsword and arming sword in the tournament.
Our Arts and Bardic competitions are an open theme – anything you’ve been working on can be entered in the Competition! The winners will be People’s Choice – feel free to bring your own token to vote for your favorite, or use one of our glass beads to make your vote.
